MacBook Data Recovery

MacBook not starting? Your files usually still exist.

MacBook Pro and MacBook Air recovery for failed logic boards, liquid damage and dead storage — including the soldered SSDs modern Macs use, which most repair shops cannot touch. Stop trying to power it on and talk to a specialist first.

The problem

A dead MacBook rarely means dead data.

The storage in most MacBooks is soldered directly to the logic board — so when the machine fails, standard "swap the drive" repair simply is not an option.

  • Liquid damage — coffee or spills short the logic board; the machine may never power on again, but the storage chip is often untouched
  • Logic board failure — a dead board does not mean dead storage; the chip can be read independently once removed
  • T2 chip / Apple Silicon encryption — modern Macs encrypt storage at the hardware level, which needs the correct key material and specific tooling to recover, not generic tools
  • SSD or NAND failure — the storage chip itself fails or develops bad blocks, separate from any board issue
  • Accidental deletion, failed macOS update or corrupted APFS volume — logical faults with no physical damage at all

Do not attempt to power the machine on repeatedly, do not send it for a generic screen or keyboard repair first, and do not let anyone reflash or reformat it. Get a proper diagnosis before anything else happens to it.

Capability

Every generation, every failure mode.

i

Soldered SSD Recovery

Chip-level recovery from the storage soldered to the logic board — a specialism most repair shops and even some data recovery labs cannot perform.

ii

T2 & Apple Silicon Macs

Modern encrypted Mac storage handled with the specific tooling and process these platforms require.

iii

Liquid & Physical Damage

Board-level assessment to isolate whether the storage chip survived the damage that killed the rest of the machine.

iv

Logical Failures

Corrupted APFS volumes, failed macOS updates, accidental deletion and formatting — recovered without any physical intervention.

Process

From dead machine to returned files.

  1. 01

    Diagnosis

Send in the whole MacBook — even one that will not power on at all. We identify whether the fault is the board, the storage, or something logical.

  2. 02

    Fixed quote

You get a clear recoverability assessment and a fixed price before any recovery work begins. No open-ended bills.

  3. 03

    Chip-level or logical recovery

Soldered storage is removed and read independently where needed, or the volume is reconstructed logically — always onto verified images.

  4. 04

    Verified return

Your files are checked as openable, then handed back on encrypted media.

Questions

What every MacBook owner asks.

My MacBook won't turn on at all. Is my data gone?

Not necessarily. A dead logic board stops the machine booting, but the storage chip soldered to that board can often be read independently in the lab. Send the whole machine and we will tell you honestly what survived.

The storage is soldered — can it even be recovered?

Yes, this is a core specialism of ours. Soldered SSDs on MacBook Pro and Air models are recovered at chip level using the specific tooling these boards require — work most repair shops cannot do.

Does the T2 chip or Apple Silicon encryption block recovery?

It changes the process but does not rule it out. We work with the encryption architecture Apple uses on modern Macs rather than trying to bypass it, so a proper diagnosis is essential first.

I spilled liquid on it and it died instantly. Is there hope?

Often, yes. Liquid usually shorts the logic board rather than destroying the storage chip. Power it off immediately, do not attempt to charge or turn it on, and get it to us as soon as possible.

What will it cost?

Diagnosis first, then a fixed quote based on exactly what your MacBook needs — agreed with you before any work begins.
