Criminal defence is the single largest area of our work. The pattern is consistent — devices are seized by the PSNI, most commonly a mobile phone, the prosecution produces a Cellebrite extraction report, and the defence needs to know whether that report is accurate, complete and correctly interpreted. A Cellebrite report is not the final word: examiners work under pressure and against tight deadlines, so extractions can be incomplete and conclusions can be drawn that the underlying data does not support. We review prosecution reports methodically — methodology, completeness, interpretation and chain of custody — and produce an independent second opinion. We also examine devices the police never looked at, and coordinate collection directly with solicitors’ offices, custody suites and the PSNI. Legal Aid accepted.

Road traffic cases increasingly turn on digital evidence rather than witness accounts. Dashcam footage, GoPro and action cameras, mobile phone data, telematics and body-worn police cameras can all be more reliable than any statement — and more likely to be challenged. The critical questions are always the same: is the footage genuine, is the timestamp accurate, and has it been edited or selectively presented? We examine file structure, metadata and encoding for indicators of manipulation, analyse mobile phone activity around the time of a collision, and produce clear reports for civil and insurance proceedings across NI and Ireland.

When a business faces a civil claim or insurance dispute involving an incident on its premises, the CCTV from that day is usually the most important evidence in the case. We provide frame-by-frame analysis, enhance image quality where the system allows, and establish an accurate timeline for insurers, loss adjusters and solicitors on both sides. Timestamp accuracy is one of the most overlooked and most valuable issues — business systems frequently run on drifting or incorrectly reset clocks, and if the timestamp is wrong the entire sequence of events may need reconsidering. We also investigate footage that has been deleted, overwritten or withheld, and confirm whether disclosure has been complete.

One of the most common corporate instructions we receive involves an employee who has just left — usually under difficult circumstances — and a business that suspects they took more than their notice period. A USB drive connected in the days before departure, client databases copied to a personal email account, confidential pricing forwarded to a competitor. We forensically establish what was taken, when and how, in a manner that stands up in employment tribunals and civil proceedings — preserving the evidence properly before positions harden and devices are wiped or reissued.
