We can get your Drobo data back in no time
We are one of the best professional Drobo Disaster Data Recovery Companies in the UK (United Kingdom) and Europe for Mac and Windows Drobo Storage Systems. Our professional Drobo Data Recovery Service for Mac and Windows in the United Kingdom offers Data Recovery from any Drobo NAS or DAS device and we are Drobo Mac specialist in Europe for BeyondRaid Drobo Data Recoveries. From all over Europe and the United Kingdom we get Drobo Devices in when they fail and need repair. Most of the time the Hard Disk Drives in your Drobo developed bad sectors which can lead to a total crash of your Drobo NAS or DAS device. Hard Disk Drive reading head problems may require a replacement as well but leave it to us. All jobs are done in house in a professional clean room environment. For Drobo Hard Disk Drive imaging we only use DeepSpar Disk Imager™ 4 hardware to archive the best results and data recovery rates.
What makes our Data Recovery business different from other companies? You probably contacted already other companies and now you have to decide who you trust most with your Drobo Data Recovery job. We have a decade of experience with Drobo Data Recovery and BeyondRaid technology they implant and use. Drobo BeyondRaid is more difficult to recover than let’s say a Raid 5 or Raid 6 system array. Drobo BeyondRaid is very similar to Raid 5 but normal Raid Recovery Tools & Software cannot work with it correctly and the recovery rate is as low as 20% with them. If you come to our Data Recovery you can be assured that we take good care of your data. There are no salespeople involved that can be quite pushy. From day one you will only talk to a Drobo Data Recovery specialist which is available 24/7 to answer your questions by email, chat or phone.
Recovering data from Drobo’s BeyondRAID technology can pose significant challenges. Recently, we received a Drobo Storage unit for data recovery, and we discovered that Drobo’s BeyondRAID technology differs from conventional RAID systems. While it shares similarities with RAID 5 or RAID 1, it utilizes its own proprietary beyond RAID technology and a unique partition system on top of the file system. In my experience, this can be a daunting task to recover data from.
If you encounter a situation where all your data suddenly disappears from your Drobo Storage or the red lights start flashing, I strongly advise against further usage and recommend seeking professional assistance from a Data Recovery Service. It is crucial not to attempt any actions directly on the hard drives themselves. Our initial step involves creating an image of all the Drobo storage hard disk drives using our DeepSpar imager. Depending on the extent of the damage, we may even need to replace the heads on the hard disks. For instance, in the case of this Drobo 4-bay PAS storage device, we encountered two failed hard drives and numerous bad sectors.
Furthermore, Drobo storage employs a technology similar to TRIM found in SSD drives, which can permanently delete all data on your drives. Therefore, it is imperative to always begin the recovery process by working with cloned hard disk drives and imaging them. While Drobo metadata is akin to RAID metadata, most professional Data Recovery Software, such as R-Studio and UFS Explorer, face challenges when attempting to extract data from it. We ran all four cloned hard drives through R-Studio and UFS, where we were able to identify the file and folder structure, although it appeared to be either deleted or damaged. Approximately 30% of the data seemed recoverable, which is a modest but promising start.
Another software solution we utilized is Reclaimme Pro, which includes Drobo partition support. However, with a price of around £750 for a one-year license, it may not be a feasible option for end customers. Nonetheless, we employed Reclaimme Pro and processed all four drives through it, yielding favorable results. The data testing revealed only minor errors, and the data recovery rate increased to 98%.
Alternatively, you can attempt the following approach: image all hard disk drives from your Drobo Storage device, then maximize the logical block addresses (LBA) on each cloned drive. Finally, reinsert the cloned drives into the Drobo storage unit and allow it to sit for at least 24 hours. With some luck, the unit might restore itself back to its original state, complete with a valid partition and file system. However, it is important to note that success is not guaranteed, as it depends on the Drobo metadata on each drive and the Drobo firmware.
In our case, we successfully restored 5.5TB of customer data using Reclaimme Pro. Data recovery for a Drobo Storage Device can be a time-consuming process, often taking several days, and unfortunately, it comes with a premium price tag. You can expect the cost for such a data recovery job to range between £1000 and £2000. If you have any questions or need advice regarding your Drobo and data recovery options for your Drobo Storage device, please feel free to contact me. I never charge for simply examining a Drobo NAS & PAS storage device.
