How ADATA SSDs actually fail.

From budget SU-series SATA drives to high-performance XPG GAMMIX NVMe SSDs, we see the same patterns again and again.

  • Not detected or reports as uninitialized — the system no longer sees the drive at all
  • 0MB capacity or "no media" — a classic sign of controller or firmware failure
  • Firmware failure or power-loss corruption — the drive was mid-write when power was lost
  • Accidental format or repartition — the volume is gone but the data may not be
  • Overheating, random disconnects or read-only mode — often a precursor to full failure
  • OEM ADATA SSD in a laptop fails with no error message — soldered or hard-to-access modules included

Important: stop using the drive as soon as you notice a fault. Do not attempt a firmware update or "flash" — on a drive that is already failing, this is one of the fastest ways to make data unrecoverable. Why it needs a lab

These controllers do not forgive guesswork.

Most ADATA SSDs run Silicon Motion (SMI) or Realtek controllers with proprietary firmware, and some models add hardware encryption on top. Consumer recovery software either fails outright or makes the drive worse.

  • Firmware bypass and controller repair — working with the drive's own controller rather than fighting it
  • NAND-level data extraction — for drives that are dead or too corrupted to negotiate normally
  • Chip-off BGA rework — for completely unresponsive or physically damaged modules
  • FTL reconstruction — rebuilding a corrupted flash translation layer to make sense of raw NAND data

Every case runs through one in-house chain of custody — nothing is outsourced or shipped abroad, which matters as much for business and legal clients as for personal data.

    You approve a fixed price based on the actual failure before any recovery work begins. No surprise invoices.

    Laboratory recovery

    Firmware repair, chip-off reads or logical reconstruction as the case requires, always performed onto verified images of the original media.

    Files verified openable and returned to you on encrypted media, typically within days of approval.

Questions

The honest answers.

My ADATA SSD shows 0MB or "no media". Can it be fixed?

Usually this points to controller or firmware failure rather than dead NAND, and both are recoverable failure classes in our lab. Diagnosis will tell you exactly where you stand before you commit to anything.

Is an OEM ADATA SSD inside my laptop still recoverable?

Yes, in most cases. Send the whole laptop rather than trying to remove the module yourself — some OEM drives are soldered or awkward to access safely, and we have the tooling to work with them in place.

I accidentally formatted my ADATA drive. Is data still there?

Often, yes — a format does not usually overwrite the underlying data immediately. Stop using the drive now and get it to us before anything is written to it again.

Does encryption on newer ADATA drives stop recovery?

Not necessarily, but it does change the approach. We need to know if hardware encryption is enabled, and in some cases the original password or recovery key, so let us know at diagnosis stage.

How much does ADATA SSD recovery cost?

It depends on the failure class, which is why diagnosis always comes first and the quote is fixed before we start. Logical cases cost less than firmware or chip-level work.
