Asustor NAS Data Recovery
Your Asustor NAS is down. Your footage isn't.
Nimbustor, Drivestor, Lockerstor and rackmount AS-RD/RS — recovered in our own Belfast laboratory. Power it down, don't let ADM "repair" the volume, and talk to an engineer before anything else touches it.
Before anything else
When the NAS fails, the deadline fails with it.
Asustor systems sit at the centre of thousands of edit suites, studios and photography businesses — which is exactly why a failure is never just a technical problem.
How it usually starts
- RAID rebuild failure after a disk swap or an ADM update
- Power loss mid-way through volume mounting or a firmware upgrade
- Accidental deletion or factory reset of shared folders
- Volume crash or disks reporting as unmountable
- Encrypted volumes that stop accepting the key
- Second and third disk failure in a RAID 5 or RAID 6 array
- Failed SSD caching or hybrid pools taking the whole system down with them
Every series, desktop to rackmount
We recover Btrfs, EXT4 and encrypted volumes from the full Asustor range: Nimbustor (AS5202T, AS5304T, AS5402T, AS5404T), Drivestor (AS1102T, AS1104T, AS3302T, AS3304T), Lockerstor (AS6602T/AS6604T Gen2, AS6702T/AS6704T Gen3, AS7110T, AS7304T, AS7404T, AS6706T, AS7010T), and rackmount AS-RD/RS units including AS7112RDX, AS7012RDX, AS6212RD, AS6208RD and AS7009RDX with 10GbE and SSD caching.
Do this now: power the unit down and leave it off. Do not let a rebuild finish, do not accept ADM's offer to "repair" or reinitialise the volume, and do not swap further disks. Every one of those steps is reversible only until it is done.

Process
From failed array to opened project files.
- 01
Diagnostic intake
Non-destructive imaging and RAID analysis establish exactly what failed. You get a clear recoverability assessment before anything else happens.
- 02
RAID & volume rebuild
Each disk is cloned, and the array — RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 or 10 — is reconstructed logically from the images. Your original disks are never touched again.
- 03
File recovery & extraction
Btrfs and EXT4 structures are rebuilt and data extracted, preserving folder structure and file names wherever possible.
- 04
Secure return
You approve a preview file list, then recovered data is copied to encrypted media and returned by tracked courier or collected in person.
Transparent pricing
Asustor NAS recovery pricing.
Priced by array size and drive count, the same structure as RAID and server recovery. Fixed quote confirmed after diagnosis; prices exclude VAT.
All prices below are net (before VAT). We add VAT at 20% on top — shown beneath each price as “inc VAT”, which is the total you actually pay. For example, a £425 net recovery is £510 including VAT. VAT-registered businesses can usually reclaim it.

Questions
Asked by editors, studios and photographers.
A disk swap on our Lockerstor triggered a rebuild that never finished. Recoverable?
In most cases, yes. A stalled or failed rebuild is one of the most common Asustor cases we handle — the priority now is to stop it and power down rather than retry, which is what actually causes permanent loss.
Do you recover Btrfs and EXT4 volumes, including encrypted ones?
Yes. Both file systems are handled routinely, and encrypted ADM volumes are recovered where the key or credentials can be established — we will tell you honestly during diagnosis if that is the case.
We run SSD caching on our NAS — does that complicate recovery?
It adds a step, not a barrier. Failed SSD caching or hybrid pools are analysed alongside the main array so the rebuild accounts for both, rather than treating them separately.
Can you keep unreleased client footage confidential?
Yes, as standard. All work happens in our own Belfast laboratory under a documented chain of custody, and we sign NDAs on request for productions and agencies that need one.
How fast can you turn around a time-critical job?
Fast-track service levels are available on top of the standard schedule for productions against a deadline — ask when you request your assessment and we will confirm realistic timing against your quote.
Tell an engineer what happened. You will get an honest recoverability view and a fixed quote before any recovery work begins.
