Kingston SSD Recovery

Kingston SSD failed? We recover it in-house.

Not detected, showing 0GB, or locked after a firmware fault — Kingston SSDs fail without warning. We diagnose the real cause and recover the drive at controller and chip level, in our own lab, start to finish.

I.

The problem

Common Kingston SSD failure signs.

These symptoms usually point to a controller or firmware fault rather than dead memory — which is good news for recovery.

  • Not detected in BIOS or by the operating system
  • 0MB or 0GB capacity shown where the full drive should be
  • Dead after a power outage or surge
  • S.M.A.R.T. errors, bad blocks, or read-only mode
  • Firmware corruption or the drive locking up mid-use
  • Accidental reformatting or partition deletion
  • Stuck in a security lock or frozen state

Important: stop using the drive as soon as you notice a problem. Do not attempt a firmware update or re-flash — on a drive that is already faulting, this can turn a recoverable case into an unrecoverable one.

II.

Why this needs a specialist

Kingston SSDs are not a plug-in-and-scan job.

Kingston SSDs run on a mix of Phison, Silicon Motion and Marvell controllers, combined with wear-levelling and, on many models, hardware encryption. When the controller fails or the firmware corrupts, the drive can disappear entirely — no amount of software scanning will bring it back.

Our lab is equipped to interface directly with the NAND memory, work around a failed controller, reconstruct fragmented data, and unlock drives stuck in a security-frozen or locked firmware state. It is forensically sound, hardware-assisted recovery — carried out entirely in-house under one chain of custody, with no outsourcing to a third-party facility.

This service sits alongside our wider SSD data recovery work, and if the affected system is a Mac, see our dedicated Apple SSD recovery page.

Process

Straightforward, honest, fixed-price.

  1. 01

    Diagnosis

Send the drive to our lab. We identify the exact fault — controller, firmware, NAND or logical — and report back with a clear verdict.

  2. 02

    Fixed quote

You approve a fixed price based on the real fault before any recovery work begins. No surprises later.

  3. 03

    Laboratory recovery

Firmware repair, controller bypass or chip-level reads as the case requires — always onto verified images.

  4. 04

    Verified return

Your files verified openable and returned on encrypted media.

Questions

The honest answers.

My Kingston SSD shows 0GB or is not detected. Can it be fixed?

In most cases this is a controller or firmware fault rather than failed memory chips, and both are recoverable in the lab. A diagnosis will tell you definitively where you stand before you commit to anything.

Is it safe to try a firmware update to fix the drive myself?

No. Re-flashing firmware on a drive that is already faulting is one of the most common ways an otherwise recoverable Kingston SSD becomes unrecoverable. Power it off and send it to us as it is.

Can you recover an encrypted or IronKey drive?

Yes — encrypted and enterprise Kingston drives, including IronKey Vault Privacy and DC-series units, are within our capability. We handle these with the same chain-of-custody standards used for legal and corporate cases.

How long does Kingston SSD recovery take?

Standard cases typically take a matter of days once the fixed quote is approved. Emergency turnaround options are available where the case is urgent.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the failure type, which is exactly why diagnosis comes first. You will always know the fixed price before any recovery work begins — see our indicative pricing.
