Crucial SSD Data Recovery
Crucial SSD not detected? We recover it in-house.
MX500, BX500, P3 Plus or any other Crucial drive — controller and firmware faults need lab tools, not consumer software. We recover Crucial SSDs other repair shops turn away, in a single UK laboratory with one chain of custody.
The problem
Crucial SSDs fail quietly — then completely.
Most calls from Crucial owners start the same way: the drive was fine, then it wasn't. We see this pattern often.
- Not recognised in BIOS, or shows as 0 GB — usually a controller or firmware fault, not dead memory
- Completely dead after a power event — sudden loss of power mid-write can corrupt the drive's mapping tables
- Accidental formatting or deleted partitions — recoverable in many cases if you stop using the drive immediately
- Stuck in read-only mode, or throwing CRC / "access denied" errors — a sign the controller is struggling to manage its own data
- Reports "no media" or is invisible to Windows or macOS — the drive is present but not identifying itself correctly
Important: stop using the drive and do not attempt a firmware update or "fix" tool. Crucial SSDs use TRIM, which can permanently erase deleted data in the background — the sooner the drive is powered off, the better your odds.
This page is part of our wider SSD data recovery service, covering every brand and failure type.
Coverage
Every Crucial SSD range.
SATA SSDs
BX500, BX300, MX500, MX300, MX200, and the older M500 / M550 series.
NVMe SSDs (M.2)
P1, P2, P3, P3 Plus, P5, P5 Plus and T500 Gen4 drives.
OEM & Enterprise
CT-series OEM variants and Micron 1100 / 1300 drives sold under the Crucial brand.
Portable SSDs
Crucial X6 and X8 external drives, including drop and connector damage.
Process
Specialist recovery, fixed price.
Many Crucial drives — particularly the MX and BX series — run Silicon Motion controllers with proprietary firmware and hardware encryption. That makes recovery tool-dependent and not something consumer software can touch.
- 01
Diagnosis
We examine the drive to identify the real fault — controller, firmware, NAND wear or logical damage — and report back with a clear verdict.
- 02
Fixed quote
You approve a fixed price based on the actual fault before any recovery work begins. No surprises once work is underway.
- 03
Laboratory recovery
Direct-to-NAND extraction, firmware repair, decryption of controller-managed data, or BGA chip-off and reballing where the drive itself is unresponsive.
- 04
Verified return
Recovered files verified openable and returned to you on encrypted media.
Transparent pricing
Crucial SSD recovery pricing.
Published starting prices — your fixed quote is confirmed after diagnosis. Prices exclude VAT.
All prices below are net (before VAT). We add VAT at 20% on top — shown beneath each price as “inc VAT”, which is the total you actually pay. For example, a £425 net recovery is £510 including VAT. VAT-registered businesses can usually reclaim it.

Questions
The honest answers.
My Crucial SSD shows as 0GB or isn't recognised at all — is it recoverable?
Often, yes. This is typically a controller or firmware fault rather than failed memory, and both are recoverable failure classes in the lab. Diagnosis tells you definitively where you stand before you commit to anything.
Can you recover a BX500 or MX500 after a firmware crash?
In most cases, yes. These models use Silicon Motion controllers we work with regularly. Depending on the fault, recovery involves firmware repair or direct-to-NAND extraction.
Do you work on Crucial NVMe drives — P3, P5, T500?
Yes, all M.2 NVMe Crucial drives are within our capability, including encrypted models.
I've accidentally formatted my Crucial SSD — can you get the files back?
Often, provided the drive is powered off immediately. SSDs use TRIM, which erases deleted space in the background, so time matters more here than on a hard drive.
How much does Crucial SSD recovery cost?
It depends on the failure class, which is why diagnosis comes first and the quote is fixed. Logical cases cost less than firmware or chip-level work — you always know the price before we start.
